"The von Borstel Homepage" http://ednavonborstel-embroiderydesigns.com/ A lovely Australian site from the mid north coast of NSW. Sets for sale feature some lace bowls with unusual themes such as the poinsettia bowl and the pansy bowl, and some with the distinctly Australian theme of native wildflowers and birds. Other design sets include native flora and fauna, as well as some heritage sets such as the First Fleet. There are also some sets without an Australian flavour such as the Baby set, Kids' stuff and Antique Flowers. Most sets are available in Australian dollars and average around AUD$45-$50. Phyllis Rose sent me the address for this site as it is one of her favourites ... so thanks Phyllis."

"Inspirations" Quilt.

Quilt I made using designs from  the "Inspirations" Collection. This quilt measures approx. 72 x 72 inches.

Antique Doilies become modern.

I made this Doily Set by hand when I was a

teenager. An elderly friend taught me the arts

of needlework and crochet, which have since

 given me years of satisfaction.

I made the same Doily Set again, using a

computer and digital sewing machine.  A

quicker method, and a pleasing result.

A Simple Way To Customise Towel Sets.

This was a plain stone coloured towel set which I

thought needed dressing-up. I was able to create a

lovely effect.

These aqua-green towels were embroidered

with Design 26 from Sweet Memories

Which was originally a plain green towel set has

been transformed into a bush theme, with designs

from the Australian Flora & Fungi Collection.

Sewing tip: I used "Sticky Backed Stabilizer" on the bottom, and "Madsira Avalon" on the top. Using the sticky back on the bottom you don't have to hoop the towels in the hoop. Put the sticky side upwards in the hoop and carefully take the paper off to expose the sticky paper. I run around the edge of the hoop with my unpicker (seam ripper) being careful not to cut all the way through. Then I press the towels into position and pin the Avalon on top. When I start the design my machine has a button I press which creates a running stitch to fix the design area. This is a big help to hold everything together.

Embroidered Towels & Cushions.

I embroidered this towel set using a number of designs from my Spring Time Floral Collections.

This cushion was created using a design from Sailing Ships Collection, and 2 Australian wildflower designs, the Waratah and Cootamundra Wattle (included on CD).

To make this cushion I used the Ring-tail Possum from the Australian Native Animals Collection.
